2021 Civic Type R Performance Specs Revealed
The Civic Type R got its start back 1997. Almost two and a half decades have past since then. New tech has made cars lighter, faster, smarter, and more powerful. However, the Honda Civic Type R ethos remains unchanged: uncompromising performance and drivability.
Today, we’ll take a peek at the 2021 Honda Civic Type R features that make it so thrilling to drive, starting with the engine and horsepower.
High-Performance Engine and Features
The 2021 Honda Civic Type R houses a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-liter VTEC® four-cylinder engine. It pumps out 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, which has a new weighted shift knob. The reinforced chassis is paired with an all-aluminum hood to reduce weight while bolstering strength and rigidity. The 2020 Honda Civic Type R has plenty of other performance features to boost your track times. It has a dual-axis MacPherson strut front suspension with an active damper system, a helical limited-slip differential, Brembo® performance brakes, and the signature triple outlet exhaust.
Perhaps our favorite bit of tech included on the 2021 Honda Civic Type R is the Honda LogR™ datalogger app. It measures track performance in real time, letting you check your lap times with Data Log and play back your last recorded session with Auto Score. All of this is brought to your smartphone via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The Driver Information Interface is lets you customize your digital gauge display to show boost pressure, G-force, lap times, rev limit, and throttle and brake input as you drive. The 3-Mode Drive System pairs with the suspension and adaptive dampers to give you the optimal driving experience for your environment with Comfort, Sport, and +R modes.
